Hey guys, just signed up. Having a bit of a problem, done a search on here but cant find anything that helps wondering if anyone can shed some light.

DIVX vids work fine on my computer but for some reason some DVD Rips wont play. All that happens is i get a green screen and the audio. They used to work fine and ive not changed anything to my knowledge. Im using the latest K-Lite Codec Pack and like i said i have no trouble with regular .Avi files but these DVD rip will not work.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers.

Try play with VLC, it has it own builtin codecs. If it works fine get rid of klite codec pack and install just the codecs you need or ffdshow.

No joy im afraid. Thats K-lite, ffdshow and VLC all installed now and still no use. Ive got ACE codec pack, DIVX and 3ivx all ready to install, is it worth trying them (but uninstalling the rest first)?

If VLC doesn't play the video properly, the problem may be a bad video. Run one of the videos through a utility like GSpot (2.52 or better), and post a screenshot of the resulting window here. Blank out the filename and path information, if you prefer.

Oh, and the general opinion on VideoHelp, as far as I've seen, is to avoid codec packs as much as possible.

Ah - I couldn't have said it better myself. Most likely, that's where your problems started. Try uninstall K-Lite. Then install the codec you need as you need it. Codec packs are like fighting mosquitos with a shotgun. Will break a lot more than it makes.
