I have just started doing this today and knowing i have a slow computer (450mhz) that it would take long, I went to bed. Woke up in the morning and it was finished encoding the audio, looked at the time it would take to encode the video and it said 36hrs!!!! I have it set on 3 pass it completed the first pass in about 10hrs and now it is taking it 36hrs to do the second!!

My question is will it also take another 36hrs to do the third pass?

that time seams a lot but then again your computer is a bit slow.

if you set it on 3pass it will first do a .vaf file (probibly the first 10h) then it will do the 3 passes (the 36h). so your encoding will be done in 36h.

Yes it says 36hrs remaining but my question is will it do 2 36hr converts as it has two more passes left or does it only take 18hrs per pass?

If it only takes 18 hrs per pass I may try only 2 passes, would you reccommend this?

    Thanks for the quick reply,

the first 10h is not a pass at all. its the .vaf file.
the 36h is for all passes. ie one pass takes 36/3 = 12h
if you do one pass you dont need the .vaf so 1pass would take 12h while 3passes take 46h

  6. baker if you dont want to have a Vaf file just do it by yourself that is the only way to do get rid of the extra ten hours on youthe vaf file in just a Video information file and it really isnt recessary soo do it by yourself

sa pinoy said, making your own .vaf would get rid of them 10h. i have nt tried that so i dont know any about it.
1 pass will make ok picture, no more.

(my msm messanger was off since i was at school, and its still not on.)

    Right a few things..

Pinnoy2201 your msn messanger hasn't been on in days!! Why? I would like to chat with you on this topic.

Make my own vaf file!!! How? I don't mind the extra 10 hrs anyway its alright,it's the encoding time that bothers me.

I am going to try 1 pass and see how the quailty looks, If it still makes the vaf file shouldn't it look almost the same as a 2pass?

  9. i meant do it step by step and not use DVD2VCD becuase if you do it step by step you can select an option on CCE not to make the vaf file

  10. Not to be rude, but no matter how much we dance around it the problem is your PC is way to slow. I have a Tbird 1.2Ghz and normally get encode times of 0.915~1.050 in CCE (almost real time), but for a 2hr movie at 3pass VBR that's still 8hrs.

You might want to consider upgrading to a faster computer. Failing that, I would only encode CBR. The quaility goes down but it's much faster.
