  1. I am using a Sony HDR HC3 and having bizarre problems. When I try to upload video to a computer it is captured scrambled/pixelates with messed up sound. The dimensions and framerate equate to PAL, however, it is a NTSC camcorder. The work around for me has been capture 5 seconds at the beginning of the tape, and then stop it. Then restarting the capture clears the problem and the entire hour long tape comes out just fine. I have read the manuel and did not find an answer there, called tech support who told me to reset the camcorder's reset button. Did the reset back to factory default settings and that did not resolve the problem. I have loads of RAM, fast PC and using Vegas Video Capture 6.0.
    Thanks for any insight

As per other posters Vegas capture applet is not the greatest. I've never had a problem with it but also I'm loading SD recordings from miniDV not HD material.

i can't recall the source, but there was some discussion about a problem with that sony in auto mode. changing the dv output selection to manual sd or hd cleared it up.

Im not sure if its a sony issue as I have used a panasonic DV cam with vegas 5 and the exact same thing happens. Very annoying.

I cant test my HDR HC3 cam with it as vegas 5 doesnt recognise (well mine doesnt) HDV cams.

I bought my hdr-hc3 a few months ago and I had a problem with it zero memoring and recording over video. I've had this happen 4-5 times. I try to review video that I'd wanted to save and it seems that the camcorder zero mems on its own. It records over footage that I did not intend to record over. When I shut off the camcorder I always asume that it will begin recording at that same point. When I go back to view what I've recorded, I find that it has zero memoried on its own(?) and I've recorded over the video. Am I hitting the wrong button? I use the viewfinder and not the touch screen to begin and end video recording. Please help!

    Thanks,
    Scott

If this is a camcorder issue then Sony Support would be the best site to check. Otherwise try other HD enabled editors like VideoStudio 10 or Moviefactory 5 both from Ulead
