I am in the process of uploading a hord of mini DV tapes to PC. I do not have the time to sit there when the video ends after 30 minutes on a 65 tape. So I end up with 35 minutes worthless data taking hard drive space after the video completes. Can I resave the original AVI file as another AVI file with the last 35 minutes edited off, or will that process diminish video quality?
Thanks for any insight J

Use Virtualdub and cut the last 35 minutes out.

Don't forget setting direct stream copy mode for both video and audio in VirtualDub and save as old format. You'll keep the input quality.

You don't specify what system you have, but if you have XP, you can use Windows Movie Maker....it's part of XP.
