I came across this utility description on AMD’s website, and was wondering if anyone here has used it… and if so, any opinions?
"AMD Athlon™ XP Processor PowerNow! Software for Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0 & Windows 2000 Version (exe) 3.0.5 - AMD PowerNow! Technology allows the system to dynamically and automatically select CPU speed, Voltage and Power combination that match the instantaneous user performance need. These changes can happen as often as 30 times per second."

This is AMD's equivalent to Intel's SpeedStep. Both are designed (ultimately) to increase battery life on laptops.

I thought maybe it would let my desktop PC CPU run cooler in low-demand situations, but the link's description said nothing would be apparent to the user (other than higher battery life).
Thanks.
