I have no clue what the hell happened, but I can not see anything on my CD![]()
I have a lots of different stuff on it like drivers, programs, documents, pictures, etc and I can't see a damn thing. It looks like there is nothing on it. I tried 3 different computers with the same result. Is there a chance that I can restore this data somehow![]()

Back when 321 Studios was still in business (they closed down after losing a lawsuit over DVD X Copy), I bought a program from them called CD X Rescue that does this kind of thing. You might try a search on something like
CD recovery
and see what kind of matches you get. The program I bought works pretty well and I used it to successfully recover some audio files for a co-worker off of a damaged CD-R, so I'm sure you can find something similar for your needs. Perhaps others here can offer suggestions on programs that are still available for purchase to do this. I looked on Ebay and one guy is still selling CD X Rescue, but I don't know how many copies he has, so I'd advise you to buy this quick if you can't find another similar program elsewhere. -
Thanx for that info, I just bought it on ebay. I think it was last one
I really need to recover at least my documents and my pictures, the rest is d/lable.
It was a good deal, only 9 bucks including s/h:

If all else fails, you may want to give this stuff a try:

That's just SnakeOil BS! Don't fall for that old trap.Originally Posted by piano632

Neither. I remembered that somebody somewhere mentioned that they had a disc that was pretty much unreadable and they tried using Auric Illuminator and it made it readable again (I don't know how long it stayed readable however). If I had a valuable unreadable disc, I'd give it try too. Otherwise I don't like to put any substances on my pressed CD's in case I ever want to sell them.Originally Posted by DereX888

dissolving partially the clear see-through thickest part of the disc can help for plentifuly scratched disc only - assuming scratches aren't too deep, otherwise the snakeoil (as Cornucopia call it) wiould damage the thin data layer as well - thus making even more damage.
IMHO its probably just a nail polish remover with slightly less acetone
