Maybe SUPER (Freeware) will come to your rescue as it has others.
SUPER will convert to most formats that exist.
I didn't think tmg (Do you mean TMPGEnc) accepted the ASF format and WinAVI,well,I'd stay away from it.WinAVI is so buggy and you have to pay for it.
ASF should be installed anyway with WMP.~Luke~ -

I'm not too sure of the quality SUPER gives when converting directly to DVD because I use it to convert from formats like ASF,WMV,RM ect... to AVI or AVI to them.
You could use it to convert the ASF to an AVI with the lossless HuffYUV codec and then use a quality MPEG-2 encoder and finally author.This should be a better way of doing it and everything should run smoothly.~Luke~
