    Hello Forum,

I apologize in advance if this has been covered, but I’m not knowledgeable enough to know how to properly search for answers on this. I’m able to backup one of my DVD’s and covert to XVID (using Auto Gordian Knot 2.36), but I’m noticing the audio is only coming from one speaker / 1 channel (mono??). At first I thought it was the rip, but later discovered the DVD itself is encoded like this (played DVD from PC while listening with ear phones – sound coming from 1 side only). I’m sure there is a way to fix this, but I’m not sure how or what tools to use.

I hope the issue I’m describing is clear and makes sense. Can anyone assist or point me to a guide that has instructions on how to resolve this.

    Thanks in advance,

    GL7

Open the avi xvid in goldwave, is one channel empty? Make it a mono(just one channel instead of 2 with one silent) or copy over one channel to the other one and resave as mp3. Add back the new mp3 to the avi with Virtualdubmod, streams->stream list.

And are you sure that your pc sound settings are correct?

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delayed post,

I opened my xvid avi file in Goldwave, and yes...the left channel is empty. I'm not familiar with Goldwave, but I tried using the "channel mixer > mono mix" effect option to correct the audio. This enabled the sound to play from both channels, but I'm not sure how to save the avi file with the changes. Everytime I go to save, it prompts to save in a different format.

I'm sure it's something simple I'm doing wrong. Any more advice,

Save as in mp3 goldwave. Then add back the new mp3 to the avi with Virtualdubmod, open the avi, streams->stream list and delete the old audio track and add the new mp3 and last save file->save as avi.
