no, once it's installed the only way to get rid of it is to do a system restore to a previous date. tried it here and got rid of it quickly. i prefer firefox2 or even i.e.6 to 7.

I second the vote for Firefox 2.0
Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief. -
I read something that said you can uninstall it and it will revert back to IE6. You go in to Add/Remove Programs, then remove "Windows Internet Explorer 7", and after it's done uninstalling IE7 you will have IE6. I guess it's not just listed at "Internet Explorer", it's listed as "Windows Internet Explorer 7".
You can only do this if you upgrade to IE7, and don't start out with it.
That's just what I've read - I haven't tried it."Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man, and let history make its own judgment."

I just finished switching the PCs here at work over to IE7. We primarily use Firefox 2.0 now but IE is necessary for certain pages. I don't like the layout of it at all, but since I don't use it very often I figure the security upgrades (if there really are any) outweigh the GUI. Besides I figure we'll be forced to upgrade to it eventually anyway.

I haven't seen Firefox 2.0 yet. I never liked the 1.x version that much.
I really like IE7 so far.

Why in the world would anyone want to install IE anything on your pc
Except for the obvious reason -
Uh if you have 6, 7 is a huge improvement. Why not get 7? I mean if you like Firefox better that's completely understandable, but the advantages of IE 7 over 6 are huge. Its much faster (both loading the program and rendering/retreiving websites), much more secure, has more advanced options to customize it, accepts plugins, etc. etc. 6 was a friggin juggernaught, 7 is much more streamlined and enjoyable.

hi,
first... there is still some installing issues with IE7 and that maybe why your office don't want you to install yet.... certainprograms don't work well with IE7!! I imagine your office don't want to deal with that yet if there is a problem!! there waiting maybe more info to come out or a better revisionof IE7 ... IE7 was a rush job for M$....
yes you can uninstall I& and get back your IE6 however I have seen a lot of post where they had problems doing that with ealirer rc1 betas....
this is a faq link from M$ on IE7.. it address on uninstaliling ie7 but more important has the latest release notes on issues with ie 7 and other programs.. but not all...

"And Mozilla remains very responsive to fixing its vulnerabilities, pushing out updates within a few days of public notice. Microsoft, on the other hand, parses out its vulnerability fixes a little at a time. In the five years since its release, IE 6 has accrued a large deficit, and we see no signs that Microsoft is addressing new vulnerabilities found in IE 7 any faster."
This latest M$ ploy is good too; guess its better than a lump of coal..:
Those who buy a system with Windows XP or Office 2003 between Thursday and March 15 will be eligible to move up to Windows Vista or Office 2007. The terms of the Vista "Express Upgrade" offer will vary from one PC maker to another, Microsoft said Tuesday. In some cases, the upgrades will be free, while in some other cases, they may require the customer to pay up to half the price of the updated software.

I use to have IE View extention in FF but it isn't really necessary. There are only a couple site that require IE at work and I know what they are and when I need to use them before ever loading up a browser. When I'm using FF I've never needed the extension. Usually if it won't work in FF I don't need to see it.

I have both Firefox 2.0 and IE 7 in my PC. I think IE 7 is faster than version 6. But I still prefer Firefox.
