I would first just like to say thanks for all the help...you guys are great!!!

Anyways i hope someone can help me with this one cause its really starting to bug me. Once again...I have a Toshiba sd-3990, it reads AVI in Divx format which is great cause I can fit like 5 700 mb files. But my problem is when I go to play them, they skip and its umbareable. Whats weird is if I put a bunch of small AVIs on a DVD it plays fine, but if I put a couple longer 2 hour files, it skips. Basically 25 half hour files play fine, 5 2 hour files play horrible.

Does it have to do with the size of the file??
Or maybe how many im burning to one disc?
Does some one else have or know about this player, or should I get something else?
I know this seems like alot of questions but maybe someone has had this same problem...or maybe this is a problem with all DVD players that play Divx.....

And if im just screwed which players are known to play flawlesly, consistently...

    It is most likely either

    1. A setting in the way the avi was encoded
    2. The quality of the media you are using
    3. A compatability issue between the media and the player

I favour option two or three, with the player unable to keep a constant read speed on the disc for some reason when playing longer files.

What media are you using (media code would be good) ?

You can get the media code using DVD Decrypter, DVD Info Pro or similar. It is the code that identifies the manuafacturer of the discs. Most brands don't actually make their own discs. Memorex gets these from suppliers as diverse as CMC, ProDisc and Philips (at the low end) up to TY (at the top end), and a range in between. Chances are if you bought the cheaper memorex, you have stock from one of the low end manufacturers.

Once you get the media code, use it to search the Media database (found to your left) to see what you have.

OK so thanks so much cause I would have never guessed that but the code is MBIPG101-R05-01 now I didnt find an exact match on this site but on another it showed this being 3rd class media which is not good....it said all the problems I have...I would prob get....it also had a 50% to 80% burn success rate....

Ok...so now I have another question....is there a better memorex type? Or do I have to get something else.... or is it diferent in every 29.99 package of memorex dvd+rs?

Also the Memorex code on this site for +rs is deff not the same as MBIPG101-R05-01
