Unable to play DVD/VCD after region code hack

I own a Philips DVP 5140. The player is coded for Region 1. I used the hack mentioned on this site to change it to 0. After that, I am neither able to play DVDs nor VCDs (ironically) on this player. After trying to load the disc for sometime it throws an error saying no disc/unknown disc. I reverted back the region code to 1, and now I am unable to play even those DVDs and VCDs which were being played on the player successfully prior to applying the change. All Divx are still playing successfully still though. Just to be sure, I also cleaned the lens of the payer, but it did not help!!

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem??

Sounds like firmware corruption. If Philips offers an updated firmware, you could try changing it. Otherwise it is time for a new player, Philips won't support it after it has "hacked".
