I'm getting ready to put a site up that will have quicktime, windows media, and flash video players embedded.
I'm not a programming guru but I've noticed that IE is now making you hit your spacebar or enter key to activate such types of embedded objects like videos.

    I discovered this article:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/articles/devletter.html

and it seems fairly straightforward to even me who has no javascript experience. But I am still a little confused. If I have the three different types of media (.mp4, .wmv, .flv), should I be referring to the section that says:

"Solution for other active content types" (in the article)

Note that when I say three different types of media, I don't mean all on the same page. I mean that the user will have the option of clicking say , "quicktime high bandwidth" , or "windows media low bandwidth" and be taken to the appropriate web page for that video.

    Thanks for the help!

  2. Something to be aware of is that not all web browsers will behave the way you expect with embedded objects. You may need to test your pages on non-IE browsers.

Well I found a great article here on some highly compatible embedding code
    http://www.alistapart.com/articles/byebyeembed/

so I'm not too too worried about it displaying on browsers. Most people use IE or Firefox anyways and I've tested the code and it works famously.

What I would like is to use this workaround for getting rid of the annoying step to activate the controls..

Or are you talking about if I use that javascript code, that it may make other browsers screw up?
