I have some scratched dvd movies that I want to backup. When I rip them, errors come up or says re rip.

Is there any cleaning product or something to take off the scratch or cover up the scratches?

    Thanks

Fellowes CD/DVD Scratch Repair Kit at OfficeMax and elsewhere. It rubs out scratches by softening up the plastic slightly, then hardening it again. It won't make discs look like new, but at least the scratches will be gone. Works on deeper scratches as well, if you rub hard enough.

There are various ways to polish out the scratches. The easiest may be to go by a local audio store and see if they have a polishing service. It's a common problem with CDs and letting a pro do it would be safer.

Or there are some polishing machines you can buy. If there are just a few scratches, white toothpaste with a mild abrasive in it works well. Use a soft cotton pad or cotton balls and don't polish in a circular direction. There are also polishing compounds available at audio stores. This takes a while, but if you have a deep scratch, it's about the only way to remove it without thinning out the whole surface just to get one scratch out.

Small scratches can sometimes be covered with a light application of furniture polish. Just make sure it's compatible with the plastic on the DVD.

For software, ISO Buster or DVD Decrypter can be set to ignore some scratches, but you would lose the part under the scratch.
