Hi everyone:![]()
I am converting an AVI (25 fps) to DVD (29.97 fps) and noticed the followings messages:
1. Video packet dropped due to frame error
2. Decoding exception, dropping video packet.
Do these messages mean my DVD will be unreadable?
Thanks

It would depend on how big the 'packet' is. You could run the AVI through VirtualDub first and check it for errors. Then re save it as a 'Direct stream Copy' and that often cleans them up. As it's not re-encoding, it goes fairly fast.
Other than that, you could view the DVD files before burning. It would help if the program you used told you where the packet that was dropped was in the video, though. It may just be a frame or two and that would not be very noticeable. It should still be readable and play otherwise.
It doesn't really matter with the packet loss, but what program and method are you using to re-encode it from PAL AVI to NTSC MPEG-2 DVD? -
Hi redwudz:
I feel so silly for failing to mention the software I use to convert AVI to DVD.
I use DivXToDVD.
Thanks for the answer.
added note:
BTW, will I be able to use VirtualDubMod to convert the frame rate from 25 to 29.97 fps with direct stream?
