I have been using Nero Premium 7.5.0.2 to create DVD's from AVI files. I create my own menus and everything works perfectly apart from if I try to import an mp3 file for my menu music.

After I burn and play in any standalone I get a loud distorted hiss when the menu music is playing. This only happens the first time it plays and if I leave the menu on eventually it starts sounding fine. It happens with any mp3 file I try on any of the DVD's I have done in nero.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Don't use Nero for authoring, would be my first suggestion. Nero 7 seems to develop more and more problems the more they release patches for it.

If you can't bear to part with Nero (and some can't, although for the life of me I can't imagine the attraction), try converting the mp3 audio to uncompressed wav with virtualdubmod, and authoring with that instead.
