Help on this would be really appreciated. I'm a total newbie and have got a Panasonic NVDS27 DV Camcorder.
I've installed a Dazzle Firewire card and tried to capture Video but its jerky when I play it back. Is this "dropped frames" ? I'm playing it back with Microsoft Media player, and have installed DirectX 8.0 and the Microsoft DV plug in.
I capture using the bundled software from Ulead, DV-Editor Video Studio 4.0
My system is Windows ME, P3 1Ghz, 256Mb RAM, 40Gb Seagate 5400HDD, 40Gb Western Digital 5400 HDD (For Vidoe capture), Soundblaster Live S/c, Internal SCSI card for External Yamaha 4416SX CDR.
Anyone tell me where I'm going wrong ? Do I need a faster HDD or a SCSI HDD, Is my Ulead software crap ? Do I need XP ?
Please help, dazed and confused !!!

If it's anything it's probably your HDD. for capture 7200rpm is suggested.

Besides the need for a 7200 rpm hd, have you enabled DMA addressing for you HD in system properties? It can double your HD speed

Probably capture to the HD that is using different IDE port (IDE cable) from your C-Drive (most likely secondary IDE port).
Stop as many non-essential background process as you can.
