as of yet i have not gotten a new IDE cable.... but i don't really see how a new cable would or could fix this....
you wanted help with your problem so i made the suggestion to buy a new 80 wire ide cable. as i mentioned most of the newer 16x spd drives require a 80 wire ide cable. as mentioned your burn log looks fine. it's not difficult to change your ide cable.

    Tymaraux,

The Liteon log says the drive can't handle the media, and is failing almost immediately. Since you're using the latest firmware, SPTI, and TYG01, that only leaves the drive as the problem. If I was you, I would heed the suggestion by budz to try a 80 wire ide cable, just to make sure, and if that doesn't work, return the drive as defective.

The aopen drive should have worked. Please tell me you saved the burn log from the failure. It would be very interesting to see what could have gone wrong.

Is it possible the incompatable format means the iso file and not the dvd-r itself?Maybe there is a bug in the file itself.

    bmiller,

Unfortunately, the error being reported is specifically the drive lodging a complaint about the media. You would get the same error if you put a dvd-r in a burner that only uses dvd+r. The drive just can't work with the media.

Tymaraux: the problem can now be how you processed the "CLICK" movie. Glad you changed the IDE cable. Try using this process to back up "CLICK", download the latest versions of Ripit4me and Fixvts. I posted a link for you on page 1 of this thread that is the Ripit4me guide. It's not difficult to use Ripit4me which incorporates Dvd Decrypter, Fixtvs and Dvd Shrink. In Dvd Shrink create a ISO image so you can use IMGBURN. Also after the process is done defrag your hard drive where you'll save the "CLICK" iso image. Then use IMGBURN to burn the ISO image. I had no problems using Ripit4me for "CLICK".

Your log looks like the file size 4,681,621,504 maybe too big. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong about that.

I'm not a big fan of Liteon drives but from what I've read at Cdfreaks.com they have come along way since their 4x dvd burners.

    Tymaraux,

The latest burn log shows the burn failed because of the media/drive combination. The comments in the media section of this site aren't exactly glowing for the SONY16D1 that you used for the burn. Some people got the media to work by dropping the burn speed to 4x (the latest burn log you posted shows it was set to "Max"). Others couldn't get it to work at all.

If you still have any of the Fuji 4x that were really TYG01, you should try a "Test Mode" burn with one of those in the new drive. If that doesn't work, and you're still getting the "Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format" error then consider the following steps to maximize your strengths:

Put the aopen drive back in the computer (at least it works)
Re-rip the original dvd with RipIt4Me (get a clean rip)
Have DvdShrink output files, not an iso (don't need an iso with ImgBurn)
Use ImgBurn in "Build Mode" with the DvdShrink output files
    Use the Fuji 4x media

    According to the latest log:
    Source File Sectors: 2,285,948
    Destination Media Sectors: 2,297,888

It's big, but not too big (kind of like Goldilocks and the three bears).
