Has anybody else found bugs in Windows defender? I initially got update notices when beta version was first installed, and then no more notices for a long time. Today I got notice beta 2 was available which I installed. It stated no definitions update in 267 days, and it then gave option to update which I did. Have others seen this kind of buggy behavior? I'm also running Ewido which is as good if not better IMO, and Windows defender found no malware after Ewido had already run.

  2. Beta two has been out for quite a while. You probably haven't gotten any updates since beta 1 expired. If we are thinking in the same terms at least. To my knowlege MS Antispyware was Beta 1 and Beta 2 changed to Windows Defender. Maybe you are refering to a new Beta a Defender though. I don't have them installed anymore. Once Defender came out it was so buggy on all the systems I had it on that I uninstalled them and no longer use them.

Looks like the full version of Defender is out and available for download (to Validated Windows PCs). They also offer 2 FREE support incidents.

note: it looks like even the full version comes with 1.0.0.0 defs, so if you're having trouble updating it MAY be a step backward. I know that Windows Update does sometimes offer Defender definition updates, but I'm not sure where you can go to download them as a standalone package.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
