Hello, I am trying to add video to me website. I have done some research and seem that the best way to go is to use Flash video (FLV) I just downloaded "ffmpegX 0.0.9x" to try en convert my .mov files to .flv but it is not working out. it says I need a "mpeg2enc binary" and when I try to download it I get a text file, I do not know if that is the way it is supposed to be or what...
anyway I have tryed to convert the files and it does it in less then 1 second (never a good sign) and the files turn out to be size Zero and the name "video.com.ff.flv"

please any help would be greatlly appreciated. either a better way to convert, a better format, a solution, or any tips.

    Thanks,

    V.

    On mpeg2enc:
Check the installation instructions: Don't click mpeg2enc, but use CTRL-click on the link and then "Download linked file" (Safari) or "Save link as" (Firefox). Safari v2.0.4 will wrongfully add a ".txt" suffix. Firefox behaves better this way. But the current installer will take either and install it correctly.
By the way, this binary is not used for encoding to FLV.

    On the failed conversion:
As your source file is a .mov, you may try to activate Decode with QuickTime in the Options tab.

Thanks for the help, but I still have problems... I downloaded the mpeg2enc from FireFox like you segested and it was ok.
activated the Decode with QT but still nothing. my files are Zero size.
I do not have the Quicktime Mpeg2 Component, but as far as I knew you did not need it to convert the files.
I went online and see that to get this component you have to pay. is there a free way around this? do you think this is what is causing my conversions to be empty?

    thanks,

    V.

You only need the Quicktime MPEG2 component if your source is MPEG2 video and if you checked the "decode with Quicktime" box (else it will be decoded with mplayer)

With the information provided, my guess would be that the stream order is inverted in the .mov file. That is, audio is identified as stream #0.0, and the video as stream #0.1, instead of the other way around. In the ffmpegX Progress window, click the white "i" in the blue circle (to show the Log). The last line would read "Codec type mismatch for mapping #0.0 -> #0.0".
This error can be resolved by telling ffmpegX about the stream order: In the Audio tab, tick the "Invert mapping" checkbox. Then encode again.
