I'd like to make a still with text to the left and a small jpg file to the right of it, or somewhere outside the text area. What plug-ins will allow me to do this? I'm aware of laying text over an image by using an image on track 2 and placing the Sony Text plug-in above it on another track. Maybe there's something with fixed text and a movable clip. I don't want to Vegas to stretch out the image as it does when it normally gets inserted into a video track.

Check the way you have Vegas configured, because it doesn't distort iomages when I load them.

That said, you can use Event Pan/Crop or Track Motion to resize and re-position an image anywhere on the screen in Vegas. Put this track above the base track, as you would text, and it is overlayed. No plugins necessary.

I do this type of thing often for making motion menus for DVDs.

Actually it would be good to go one step further--two pictures. I would guess there is somewhat to achieve that by yet using another track. So one would have a video base, and two other video tracks?

Yes. Just add as many tracks as you need. Vegas supports unlimited tracks.

I've used pan/crop a little, basically to play with the box controls and rotation. I thought I'd give the selectors a whirl, source, position and so on. It seems as though when I change an x or y coordinate and then exit that when I come back the value is the original. What's going on? Is there a button that says something like "Set Values"?

If there's a Help area in Vegas that explains the entire preset, I'd like to know where it is.
