so i want to back up some music a few gigs to dvdr and as im trying in nero as data, i recieve a error that causes a blue screen then a shut down. im thinking it's usually with a corrupted file i'm trying to burn that makes it happen

are there any programs that i could use that would go error free and burn my data disc all the way throughout?? even if say a song or two dont read/burn correctly? (i cant seem to find the file which is causing the error) or maybe a program that allows me to see what exactly is being burned as it's going so i know if i get an error on a certain filename it is that specific one corrupt

I have never used it myself but in another recent thread a respected forum member suggested using a program called CDBurnerXP Pro for burning Data DVD discs.

Here is a direct link ---> CLICK HERE

I plan on trying it the next time I need to burn a Data DVD which is something I do but not very often. In the past I have used NERO for this although I have never been a fan of NERO as I use a program called ImgBurn for my DVD Video burning needs.

It let you backup CD as DVD sound tracks, so you can check it with your ear.

Are you certain you are burning with Nero Burning ROM purely as data? I've never heard of a BSOD occurring in this manner.

If that's the case, write down your Nero serial number and try using the CleanTool from Nero's site. Then install Nero 7.0.8.2 (if you have a license for Nero 7) or Nero 6.6.0.18 (if you have a license for Nero 6.) These are the only tried and stable versions of Nero. I can come up with some links for those versions if you need them.

I've burned lots of music to DVD with Nero and never had an ounce of trouble, except when I used junk (*cough*Ritek*cough*Memorex*cough*CMC*cough*TDK*.. ahem, excuse me) media.

Well I just downloaded CDBurnerXP Pro myself and used it to burn two CD-R discs ... source: MP3 files ... destination: a standard redbook audio CD-R ... and it seemed to work well.

It also supports data CD-R and data DVD-R so I like the program so far ... anything that works for burning that isn't NERO is A-OK in my book :P

I think I found my new burning application except of course for DVD Video burning where ImgBurn is still king.

actually it's nero express im burning with. i got it from the start up menu under data dvd,and now i think of it i always use nero "burning rom" for burning playable dvds and it usually works - but where is the data-dvd option? i might give that shot

When you start Burning Rom, a DVD-ROM is the default compilation type. Just click it and go.

If that doesn't help, try posting your Nero log. It's in c:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\core\nerohistory.log. Might be Nero 6 if you are using Nero 6.
