Plextor 708A: which firmware to overcome region code ?!

really wanna watch RC1, 2, 3 movies which i bought ! no software solution so far could help me, since these new dvdrom-drives have a region-cap built in !? so any chance to solve this with some firmware ?

edit: using NERO player (premium, w/ winxp sp2)......dont like windvd & co. so any software-regionfree-addons wont work for me (just found the link to those from this site (anydvd, etc.).

the link above will make your plextor 708 region free.
you'll also need to make your operating system XP region free as well. download and install DVD REGION KILLER.

I think lots of rippers e.g. AnyDVD or DVD-Fab Decrypter will make your discs play, though you may have to rip them to disk first.

i already tried the link out of the sticky-thread and always get this, when clicking on any firmware-download-link:

"phpBB : Critical Error
Could not connect to the database" ?! :/


i tried "DVD Region + CSS Free" which is advertised around here and the demo works for 7 times (a 15min.) but now it doesnt work anymore. i already tried to order the tool, but the HP seems to be a bit buggy, since i cant order it over there, only read a lot of info about the tool, lol.

Are you using Internet Explorer to download from the dangerous bros website? If you are download and install the Mozilla Firefox browser then you'll be able to download from the dangerous bro. website. There's no need to use DVD REGION CSS FREE. Your operating system has to be region free as well which is why I told you to download DVDREGION KILLER which is free software.

Someone else had the same error msg when going to the dangerous brothers website but when using Mozilla firefox browser he was able to download the files w/no probs. You can also use DVDFAB DECRYPTER, RIPIT4ME & FIXVTS. Some movies you have to use more than one tool to rip files to your hard drive.

Thanks again....already installed DVDRegion Killer and am waiting for the firmware now^^

installed netscape 8.1.2 and FireFox 1.5.0.7 as alternatives to my IE 6.x ! same procedure, same problem:

"phpBB : Critical Error
Could not connect to the database"

edit: ...same prob, because of my firewalls ! got the file now...thx.^^
