    My drive wont detect most DVD films. It's a pioneer dvd-115 (WinXP). Any ideas?

    commercial dvds?
    home burned dvds?
    do you see any files using windows explorer?
    does cds work fine?

    commercial dvd films, no files it's as if there is no disc inserted. cd's are fine and some films are fine.

    I suspect it is a defective drive. Unless it is dirty/ Try cleaning it before you trash it.

    Cleaning almost never helps. The drive may have trouble locking on the track. Time to get a new one.
