Hi. I have my hi def video files on a my XP Pro desktop in my study and I want to stream these files to my Intel Mac Mini (OSX) in the living room. I am already doing this with a long LAN cable from the router in the study to my I-O Data Avel Link Player AVLP2/DVDG in the living room but the Mac Mini is more versatile and connects digitally to the TV. How can I stream these large video files (some over 4gb) from XP to the Mac Mini? I prefer not to run XP on the Mac Mini, if possible. I have thought about the Buffalo LinkStation NAS drive but I'm very new to this and need information. Thank you...

I just use my wired LAN connections to move video. I don't stream it exactly, I just access the file over the LAN and use the software player on the remote computer to view it, usually on a video projector. I use VLC media player, which is also available for the Mac. I'm not that familiar with the Mac Mini, but using a LAN connection would seem the easiest. I do have a gigabit LAN setup, but it worked just as well with the 100Mbs LAN.

Thanks. By messing around in both the mac mini and my xp desktop I have it working how I want it. I'll check the linkout to see if there is anything I am missing. Cheers...
