    Hi, I really need some help, up until a few days ago I was using winavi to convert vids to vcd, but now when I go to convert a vid just when its about to start converting I get an error message saying winavi has performed an illegal error an it shuts down, so I've tried searching for a virus, I dont have one and I've tried uninstalling and downoading a new version and still it wont work, can anyone help, short of reinstalling windows I dont know what to to.

    Heres the error message in detail if anyone can help:

    Honestly, the general view around here is that WinAVI is one of the biggest cons in the video conversion game. It fails often, produces substandard and non-compliant output when it doesn't fail, and is marketed by people who feel it is a good thing to spam our forums periodically.

    If you seriously want help, try WinAVI support. Their track record is about as good and as reliable as their product.

    When you have no joy with them, come back here and learn a better way to work with video.

    Take a look under CONVERT left. There, you can select source (unknown "vids" in your case) and target (VCD) format, and get a list of guides.

    There is a patch to that dll at the WinAVI site

    Thanks for the help, I had already tried that patch before, still the same problem, I thought winavi was quite good though, I never had any problems before but I'll take your advice and try another program and see how that goes, cheers.
