Just purchased a Polariod LCD TV Model FXM-3211C. I have Direct TV Satellite service with a universal remote. Would like to program the universal remote with the right code so that I don't have to use the remote that came with the TV. Called Direct TV and Polariod to get codes but none work. Polariod customer service said that my model is new and maybe new codes will be coming out soon. I would appreciate any guidance here please. Just paid $900 for this TV and want to use only one remote. The previous TV I had which was a lot cheaper model I had no problem with having the right code and using the universal remote. Any thoughts. Thanx. Jack 747

Sounds like Polaroid changed their configurations. Your best bet would be to get a new universal remote that supports both or program the TV remote to control the DirecTV receiver. It's possible new codes may be released for you existing remote, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Find the documentation for your remote. Does it have a code search feature? It will be tedious to use but you won't have to buy an new remote.

Thank you both for your help. Bought a universal remote at Big Lots, All In One brand, for $6 and tried it but to no avail. It stated in the directions that it works with all brands so I thought I would give it a try. It did have a code for Polariod TV/DVD combo, which is what I have, and didnt work. Also tried code for Polariod TV and didnt work. I guess I'll have to use both remotes. I really like the TV and dont want to return it since I had it shipped to me from store by UPS. I dont have a truck or SUV to pick up another TV. If I bought another TV like a TOSHIBA, SONY, MAGNAVOX, RCA, etc might have the same problem. I guess these flat screen TVs, mine is a flat screen HDTV with tuner, are new and my satellite box/remote isnt on the same frequency. Jack747

Those you find in Big Lots would be OLD stock, and wouldn't have the latest codes. At least you didn't lose too much with $6.

Try Radio Shack, $10-15 should get you one that works.

Walmart in MA and NH has all-in-one models which are upgradeable, Cost about $12.00.

  8. Get a One For All 8910. If it doesn't work out of the box, it can be upgraded over the phone. Most codes have advanced features that they will e-mail if you ask for them that will cover almost if not all functions of the original remote. It also learns.
