Does it skip on commercial DVDs that have no scratches or other problems or is this on DVDs that have been burned or created? If it's on commercial DVDs, then it sounds like the player is at fault.

If it's on burned DVDs, it could be the DVD media you are using. That's the easiest thing to change and causes the majority of playing problems. Less likely is the burner or the burning program.

    Give us more information, please.

    And welcome to our forums.

Thank you for your reply, the player skips on DVD's that I have bought that are NSTC format but it also skips on the normal ones as well I have not burned any cd's or dvd's yet so I dont know about them being affected. I had a shinco portable player but gave it to my friend's son and bought the new Toshiba. I bought it from www.dvdoversea.com because it is difficult to get region free players where I live. I did notice that where the disc lays on the lens there is a small what looks like scratches on the metal part that the disc turns on, I have not touched the lens in any way, it usually happens half way in the middle of the dvd.

I am sad to think I pay all this money to get a good player and this is what happens.

Any thoughts on this please, thank you so much for your time

Sorry, it does sound like the player is the problem. Hopefully you can contact the supplier and resolve this.
