    Simply when I prompt QT to transcode a video it does it but without audio output
    Audio track option is greyed out or not available.
    Does anyone here know why?

    What is the audio? So details of the file you are trying to transcode might have helped.

    Thanks for your reply
    I have now found out that the audio setting will only work with certain output formats for any mov file transcoding.
    Beats me why not for all the formats listed in QT dropdown window
