    I downloaded this :

    http://www.divx.com/movies/detail.php?movieID=24&cID=4

and tested it in my DVP642, I didn't see the menu and little intro but the trailer played and I was able to see subtitles. The subs were not really well placed on screen but whatever, that player was not supposed to play only divx 5 and lower ???

    Anyone else noticed that ?

    Thanks

  2. The video decoding of Divx 6 is backwards compatible with Divx 5. Divx 6 adds subtitles, menus, etc.

Yeah. Basically, as jagabo said, a .divx movie is just a Divx 5 AVI that may or may not have additional material with it. (Divx 6 still uses Divx 5's fourcc(s).) I thought the 642 only played external .srt text subs, though...

it's cool, it's been 2 days and I'm pretty satisfied with the player, plays everything I throw at it pretty well. For such a low price it's cool.

    Thanks for the replies. 8)
