    I was wondering (again)...

Will it cause ANY problem to CinemaCraft (or any encoder) or to the output (video or audio) files if I work on any other proggies at the same time while encoding is in progress?

For example what if Dvd-lab pro compiles a movie at the same time (muxing etc)?

Or if I'm burning a DVD with Nero?

Or if Dvd-Lab is compiling and Nero is burning?

Is there any possibility that the output video/audio will freeze or mess up with any other way? Or it's only gonna get things slower?
    I'm on an Intel P4 2.80GHz, 1GB RAM.

    With CCE no

I have a Pentium D and I have had no problems converting video and audio simultaneously, making cpu usage 100% and without hangups. Takes only 40 minutes to convert and author the DVD

To be safe while burning, it's best to avoid heavy disk access processing, such as encoding video, even with a dual core. This sort of thing is really system/disk configuration dependant; some can get away with it, others can't. Other than that, run as many apps at the same time as you (i.e. your computer) can tolerate. One app shouldn't cause another unrelated app to fail, at least in Windows XP.

well.... it wont exactly "fail".... but cause some small problems to their output (video in this occasion).

    Is this impossible?

Fail in my book means to produce any kind of error. For years, I've run background MPEG2 or authoring encodes on my old 1.6G P4 (winXP) while net surfing or gaming, without any errors (i.e. failures) with the encoding output (though it took forever). Capturing video or burning is different and may fail (i.e. produce errors) if done while multiprocessing; I've had both occur so I don't take chances any more. Your mileage may vary.

  7. Some processes can be interrupted or slowed without any problem.

Other processes, such as capturing or burning, cannot be interrupted or slowed. A pause in capturing results in massive dropped frames, a pause in burning results in a coaster.

Encoding video and compiling your DVD should not be affected by mutli-tasking, as they are data processing tasks only. You may notice them taking longer because they get less of the CPU, but this should not introduce image problems.

Burning is a different issue as it is dependent on a consistent stream of data going to the device.
