Hello. I tried using this free tool iRiverter that is supposed to convert video to my iRiver. Unfortunately, it does not convert video recordeed from my Canon ZR 700. So I found a couple tutorials online that say I can use Virtualdub to do it as well. I thought I would give it a shot. Unfortunately, when I try to open any of my .mpgs that were captured from my camcorder (I used the Hauppuage WinTV PVR 250 to capture my video to MPG form), I get this error:

MPEG Import Filter: invalid pack at position 3: marker bit not set; possibly MPEG-2 stream

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!

It appears iriverter uses mencoder. You could try SUPER as it can also use that program for conversions. If you wanted to use VirtualDub, why not just input to the computer with FireWire from the camera? If you add a DV codec like the Panasonic DV codec, VD will accept the file. I use WinDV for the DV transfers. Or if you need to use MPEG, then VirtualDub Mod or VirtualDub-MP2 can accept MPEGs.

What format does the iriver device need?
