  1. Hi folks,

I wanting to capture a television program with Sony Vegas 7. I want to place the program in time-program mode as I wont be home to record the program.

When I'm in the capture video screen, I can't see anything that let's me set a time and date for recording (captureing).

Some help would be much appreciated.

Vegas isn't a VCR program, it is for capturing video to edit. It doesn't have a timer. Why not ? Because it is aimed at the professional/semi-professional audience, who would not use it for recording their TV programs.

If you were a good VB scripter you might be able to script an addon that uses the system clock to kick start a capture, but it would take some work.

There are plenty of programs that do what you need.

Look through som eof these to find what you need

Daaamn, I was looking to do the same thing, find a PVR that would work with my ADVC-100 and Vegas Capture. Unfortunately, looking at the links it seems most if not all of these only schedule from a TV Tuner card and doesn't work with any DV-AVI capture programs like Windows Movie Maker or Vegas Capture.

I'd rather capture in DV-AVI and reencode later, thus having alot more control and ease in editing and quality rather than working with an MPG file. With my free HD space, I can get 9 hours of DV-AVI video and that can work if I'm just out for the night, but if on vacation, I'm screwed.

There are 2 options I'm seeing: 1) Breaking down and buying a TV Tuner Card and hoping the software can capture into DV-AVI, or 2) Buy a good standalone DVD recorder and record at the highest quality possible. I do have an Pany ES-10 that I use as a passthrough, but according to some, it's not that great of a recorder. Also, at highest quality, it only holds 1 hour, so not good for a long trip.

Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer so scripting is out for me.
