New to this so i thought I would ask what program should I use to edit and join up movies that are made on our recently purchsed Sony Handycam DVD805E. I want final movies that can play on CD Rom computer drives and also I want to be able to make up movies that can be played back on a TV dvd player. The Picture Package program that came bundled does not do it and does not download very well. Sony themselves suggested Vegas Movie Studio. Is this the way to go?? or is there an easier and better choice.

The output of that camera is MPEG2 (the same format that regular movie DVDs use). Because of this, you'd be better off looking at the Womble Mpeg Video Wizard DVD, as it provides for editing, plus special effects, while retaining MPEG2 file format (less re-encoding will be necessary). It also will create DVDs and burn them. It is a very good program, consider it.
