I often just want to join a couple of wmv or avi files. So I was wondering is there is an app that just adds a context menu to windows like "Merge Files".

So I just mark the files I want to merge and it will sort them alphabetically(Or I do it..) and merge them. So I won't have to start a program every time.

Or Porhaps adding a merge drop point. So I just drag and drop the files I want to merge to the merge drop point and they will merge to one file in the current directory.

    Is there such an app?

Not that I am aware of. Someone may have written one but I would hesitate to join video files that way. For AVI, I use VirtualDub and the Append tool. WMV, I don't know, probably WMM.

If you are wanting to join two halves of a AVI to encode to DVD, I would not join them at all. You will generally have less sync problems by encoding the individual videos to MPEG-2 then letting your authoring program do the 'joining'.

If I have a lot of small parts of a video file, like from the net, I use a freeware program called Filemerger. It works with most any format binary file. You can put them all in there, adjust the sequence if needed and join them automatically. http://home.planet.nl/~doesw008/filemerger.html#download

    And welcome to our forums.

This app MIGHT work, although I haven't tried it. Remember, your AVI files MUST be encoded similarly for any type of file joining to work.
