My LiteOn SHM-165P internal DVD burner drive makes a rumbling noise when burning disks. Especially noticeable near the end of the job, and the rumble cycles up and down in volume about every 2 seconds.
But so far (after about 3 months and 30 or so disks burned) zero coasters.
The vibration alone is worrying for the effect it may have on the other components.
Is disaster imminent?

You are most likely hearing the disc speed increase as it reaches the outer parts of the disc. Some drives make more noise than others. Either way, it is normal.

Have you tried tightening the screws in the drive bay? Sometimes the vibrating is simply a result of the DVD drive being slightly too loose in the tower.

or having all the screws screwed into the drive.
I'm guilty of sticking one or two screws in a drive and leaving it that way. -
You can also get rubber mounts for the screws.
