    I'm trying to convert a TiVo .ty file extracted from my Series 1 TiVo to .mp4 and it doesn't work.

    It immediately reports failed and clicking the 'i' button reveals: Unknown format

    It plays fine from the Play button and the From box says TiVo and all the appropriate info about it is there. 480x480 3500 kbps, 29.97fps, etc.

    What am I missing?

    Only mencoder engine should be able to decode .ty files and not all of them.
