What I'm trying to do is print vertical and horizontal writings on the spine of the DVD covers I make. On the spine of the cover, I'd like to put in horizontal the title of the DVD on the center, and then make a vertical text or graphic on the very top or bottom of the spine. I use a program called DVD and CD Cover Print. It's a very simple cover maker which is what I want but I want to be able to load vertical and horiztonal text on the same spine. Below is an example of what I'd like to do.

I use one of the few products from Ahead that actually do what it claims to - The Nero Cover Creator. Any text at any angle anywhere.

I use a template in Photoshop Elements to design my DVD covers, so putting text at any angle is no problem.

I use Photoshp to do all of my covers. What applications do you have available?

Hell, even MSPaint can put text on any angle you want.

Settings? What setting could possibly prevent you from printing on the hub?

Perhaps you have a masking layer that is preventing you from printing in the hub area.

My PhotoShop template has a mask layer (in white) that sets the outer edge, and three different mask layers that set the inner edge. I have three inner mask layers, because I have hubbed DVD, hubless DVD and hubbed CD-R blanks available. Of course, only one is used at a time.

  7. My personal favorite label/disk/case design software, SureThing Labeler (www.surething.com) will do that easily. The program creates a "box" for each text or graphic element that you enter, and each "box" can be placed anywhere, sized, and rotated as you please.

Yeah, but Photoshop does it better.

I tried using surething right now. It did what I wanted except when I print it, it doesn't print the lines on the paper so I don't know how to cut the paper to fit the cases. In Print Preview mode you can see the lines but it won't print it out.

Nevermind, I figured it out. Had to enable that function. Cool software. More work involved than CD/DVD Printer but it works. Thanks OldAmateur
