Hi, I'm Obviously new to all of this and I think I might of been too ambigious.
I've read couple of guides and thought I had it all figured out, well not exactly...

I've trying to burn 13 episodes of an old 80's cartoon which a menu.

I've used DIKO and it wont accept some (most) of the episodes because of the difference in framerate.

I've used DIKO to convert/encode the episodes that did work and I burned the ISO file that I got from DIKO with NERO and I was able to play it on the DVD PLAYER but on the computer, there was no audio. What went wrong?

Is there any program I can use that will bypass the framerate problem and allow me to create a menu and be able to burn all 13 episodes?

Thanks. free feel to explain, I am very willing to learn.

ConvertXtoDVD isn't free, but depending on the format things are currently in, it should do all that you need.

However there is an older version of DivXtoDVD that's freeware.

Ah, fair point - hadn't spotted that.

From memory, though, doesn't AVI2DVD allow you to create basic menus, and that's freeware, isnt' it?

Look for the audio as another selection on your player other than the default.

  7. If you want to use freeware, try a multistep approach...
Transcode your avis to dvd compatible mpeg2 files first, there are many programs for this purpose (you can also use the free version of ConvertXtoDVD or DIKO and create several projects for each set of episodes with same properties). Afterwards use the resulting mpeg or vob files in a free authoring program (dvdauthor with one of the GUIs). There you can combine the episodes and create menus, chapters...

    Thanks for the input guys.

I already knew I would have to take the mutli-step route with freewares but I didnt expect to encounter so many roadblocks.

DIKO isnt taking some of my episodes because the framerate is compatibable, meaning, I would first have to change the framerate (~30 mins per epi) and then convert it with DIKO (another 30min per epi).

So for roughly 10 epi's - it would take 10 hours to convert them all.

Am I missing something or is the whole process always so tideous?

    Thanks

  10. Give a try with Mediacoder Ver0.3.9. It is very forgiving about errors in source files and would not crash like many other MPEG convertors do.
    And it is free.
It may be initially a bit frustrating to use because there are no help files and you will need to play around with various settings to start the encode.
