I am not sure why this is happening, but I recently downloaded the x264 codec revision 590, when I double click the file to install the codec, the only thing that happens is I see the command prompt pop up on the screen and then disappear. I have .net framework 2.0 on my computer, as it says this is needed. Is there something else I am missing?

  2. You probably downloaded the x.264 command line encoder program, not an installable codec.

    1) x264 is not a codec since it contains no decoder.
    2) x264 VfW was removed from the svn. It is cli or the GTK GUI.

Best bet is probably for you to grab a GUI some of which do require .net.

Mediacoder and Staxrip will also work. I don't see an h-264 option in my copy of AutoGK.

GK uses VfW which was removed from x264's SVN. Basically if you want to use GK for x264 (not recommended) then you would need to use an old VfW build or checkout an older revision with VfW, then manually build a new VfW build.

Personally I stopped doing VfW builds ages ago and all other builders would have stopped now and people who use VfW tend to not have the skills to compile stuff.

thanks, I really appreciate how fast you guys responded. i figured out how to use megui with the new builds of x.264. when converting the audio to the different available options, do i have to install the codecs in a certain folder, or were they installed with megui. for example if i wanted to convert the audio to mp3 using lame. thanks again
