    Hi everyone:

I want to append 3 AVI files (same format, same size,...same everything) into one single AVI file, using VirtualDubMod.

For video stream, I am using direct stream copy so that there may not be any decrease in video quality from the original.

For audio stream, I do not want to keep the original audio. I have created one single audio file for all 3 AVI files. The length of this audio file is exactly the total of the 3 AVI files, down to miliseconds (I am not sure about nanoseconds though, ).

Can I disable all 3 original audio streams and add the new one in one step? Or, do I have to keep and append them first into one single audio stream then disable it? I am concerned about doing this for the second time since the video stream will have to be copied one more time, although direct stream copying should not degrade the video quality.

    Thanks

I would append all three original files together, add the new audio, move it to the top of the list, then delete the old audio. You realize VDM doesn't really delete the old audio, it just removes it from VDM's index? Then you can save both the new audio and video out with 'Direct stream copy' to a single new file. That should only take a few minutes. I assume you don't need to process the audio any further, like to a different format before saving?

    Hi redwudz:

Can I append all 3 AVI files together to make one new AVI file with appended video stream and new (not appended) audio stream in one single operation?

No, I did not know that VDM would not really delete the old audio file. All I know is that the audio is disabled.

    Thanks
