can anyone tell me if i create a file with fair use wizard whether it embeds something in the movie that gives some indication as to my identity, for example includes my ip address or computer name? i am only a beginner and am a bit paranoid about uploading converted dvds! any info would be appreciated,

No, it doesn't add your ip or something.

On the other hand, we'd also strongly discourage you from violating anyone else's copyright, not that we know what you're doing, of course.

Most ripping/copying tools don't tack on any additional stuff, but it's quite possible that if you upload to a site (a site meant for subsequent download), the site itself could be configured to flag your IP identity and tack it on/associate it with the file(s). This could then be used to modify/append it on download. All this has more to do with the site you're using.

    A word of caution:
While most users here would consider ripping to 2nd (or more) hardcopy of something you already own as falling under the umbrella of Fair Use, uploading to an open site allows others to DL a copy as well, and this isn't considered fair use by anyone. If the material in question isn't something you ACTUALLY CREATED (or actually got permission in writing from the actual creators), this would certainly be breaking copyright, and most likely be considered piracy.

    Please be careful...
