Hi all. Many thanks in advance for any advice offered. I have recorded three camera angles of four 45 minute concert preformances (Yes, at the request of the artist). I am now trying to mix the footage together. It started very smoothly using mediastudio pro. But as I got more edits in the project, I am noting the cues won't "stick" reliably, and then the program won't locate the cues to make the cuts. I can still navigate around the program quickly and rend the project. I have a reasonably robust pentium 4 HT with 1 gig ram, 120 gig boot drive and two 300 gig data drives. Is this a result of overstretching system resources, did I accidently click something that defeated the cue command, am I limited by a certain number of cues in a project, (it still works but very inconsistently), or should I trash mediastudio and go to vegas 7 platinum. I would think the program would crash or slow down if resources are taxed. If I go to vegas, can the $120 version play all three angles simultaneously? BTW I have just defragmented the drives, but am at work, so I can't "play" or provide screen shots until later. The artist is coming by tonight for some prelim footage, that I have (for promos), and provide me with cd audio to replace the camcorder audio. Once I have the cd audio synched in I may break it up into individual songs, so editing is less cumbersome. I would like to put together an entire concert video, but am becoming frustrated with this ulead product. Thanks again for any help!

  2. I've used MediaStudio Pro for about 2 years, and I'm also growing frustrated with version 8. It's quite buggy, and tends to crash more than it should. It was once a revolutionary product, but it languished in development for a couple years while other programs surpassed it. There's a way to intercut footage from multiple cameras using picture-in-picture, but the program isn't really designed for it.

Vegas would probably serve your needs better. VASST markets a plug-in that lets you cut multiple-camera projects with ease, and the program is rock-stable. What's more, because it started out as an audio-editing program, it should be well-suited to cutting concert footage. However, I'm not sure whether the consumer "Studio" version would be adequate. I don't know whether the VASST plug-in will work with it.

B&H Photo in NYC is still carrying the full version of Vegas 6 for $99. (You still may have time to get a free upgrade to Vegas 7 from that purchase). The full version may handle your needs. Not a lot of difference between 6 and 7 unless you do HD (IMO).

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I am becoming quite disillusioned with ulead, and for the $800 I spent on WS pro, MS pro and ac-3 plugin, I could have something much more stable. That B&H photo deal sounds great, and I currently have no need for hd capability. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted, however I may not have cash for two weeks.
