    I haven't found a topic about this:

I want to make short clips of longer videos for teaching purposes. For instance I would like to cut 1minute of audio-video from a 2 hour movie. I want the original VOB mpeg2 quality, subtitles, and different audio layers: so ffmpegx seems the perfect tool for my purposes, except that I don't find a way to set a beginning and an end to the transformation. Is it possible?

I have tried with MPEG StreamClip, but subtitles disappear (is there a way to keep subtitles?) and you can only choose one audio track (this is a minor problem actually)
I have tried with Diva but it only takes the video component
I have tried with DVDStudioPro but it only processes the video component of the VOB file (and the same happens with FinalCutPro: is there a way to edit audio and subtitles from a VOB in FinalCut?)
I have tried with Toast 6, but it will not allow to set an initial and final point for vob files (as it does for avi or other formats)

    thanks for any hint!

actually there is a split function in ffmpegx that only works for avi and other formats but not for VOB. It is in the filters section, right-lower part and lets you set a time in minutes and seconds and the software will split at this point in time into two files.

It does not solve my request but interesting sometimes
