  1. I've just downloaded Rush Hour 2 [DVDRip ViTE DivX] and it works perfectly, but when I try to convert it with TMPGEnc I get no sound but I get a 4 hour long video that contains Rush Hour 2 (1.5 Hours) and a whole lot of nothing.. Just a black screen.

Can someone please tell my what I'm doing wrong??

The video: Open TMPG, go to settings > advanced > source range, specify the start frame (0) and the end frame. Helps sometimes.
The audio: ..is probably compressed, I guess .mp3. TMPG don't like compressed audio. Open the DivX in VirtualDub, video > direct stream copy, audio> full processing mode /compression: PCM uncompressed. Save avi.

Load this new avi as Video source into TMPG.
Pray it works. Otherwise the the audio is probably VBR MP3.
At the moment I dont have a solution to decompress a VBR MP3 properly. Unfortunately the DivX crowd is very proud of the possibility of VBR audio encoding.

  4. You can try to extract the audio from the file with Total Recorder. It's only in Real-time, so it'll take forever. But it will most definitaly work. You will get a wave file at about 540 megs. Combine this with the video stream you already encoded in TMPEnc. This should solve the sound issue. Don't know about the video though. Try the solutions mentioned above.

if you convert the audio to a separate wav with virtualdub and then use it as source in tmpgenc it should work http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm .....it works for both cbr and vbr audio....
