i am looking for the best way to save my VHS' on DVD.
Is the quality better if the tape and dvd-recorder are one unit(should have HDD included)?
Or does a connection with a simple cable work just as well.
I was looking into stuff like the Pioneer DVR-RT602H-S, or is it cheaper just to buy a vhs-player and a good dvd-recorder?

Good VCR, good DVD recorder, separate units.

The BEST quality will be with separate units, preferably a decent capture card or a DV converter, to get the video to your computer where you can tweak it to improve the quality. Many tapes I see have TONS of noise and are VERY faded. While a DVD recorder can improve the noise a bit, they don't correct for color problems.
You MUST have a decent VCR too!
