Hi All
I have a gigabyte motherboard that has a Realtek Alc882 sound chipset built into it, and using the lastest drivers from realtek on XP pro SP2. The problem is I can't seem to get any sound out of it via the toslink SPDIF out to my yamaha amp.
In the Realtek HD Audio manager under mixer the SPDIF slider is greyed out. Also under the
SPDIF setting in the audio I/O section there is a autolock button which doesn't seem to do anything and the status is on unlock. I have set the rest as "Output digital audio source" and "48KHz" In powerdvd I have set use SPDIF and under the info tab it reports it is.
If I disconnect the cable from the amp I can see a light source coming down the toslink cable and by changing back to 2ch speaker in powerdvd this light source turns off.
I also get the same problem SPDIF/in to PSDIF/out pass through mode.
I think the problem lies with the Audio mixer as this is greyed out in Realtek Audio manager and the windows volume control manager, also not being able to lock it in SPDIF settings. I have done a web search and a few people have reported this problem but I can't seem to fix anyway, and as of yet realtek haven't answered my email.
Thanks for any help
Steve
