I would like someone (nice) to tell me how to make a back up of my program that I bought and downloaded online.
I made a back up from nero, but when I put it on my laptop to see if it works it just installed under the C folder, it did not install like a CD program you buy that installs so that you can see it under the "start - all programs" menus.
Is there a way to make a back up where it just installs like a normal CD that when you put it in, you get the install button to make it show up under the start menu?
I have nero 7 ultra edition.
thanks so much. please be nice.

The file you have will be one of two things
a) An executable or zip file contain compressed install files. These need to be decompressed to the HDD before you can install the program, usually from a file called setup.exe
b) The program installer itself - an executable that you double-click to launch
If you have a) then you should expand it to your HDD in a temporary folder, and burn the contents to a data CD.
If you have b) then you can just burn the file and run it from the CD.
I don't know which you have, so you will have to determine that for yourself.
While it is possible to make an autorun CD, until you work out if you have a) or b), it is difficult to give you instructions. Software packaged for web dilvery is usually set up to be compact and runnable from your HDD, not a CD, so there might be little to be gained from setting this up.Read my blog here.

I use the back it up program from nero and click the folder it's in like C/program files/uleadvideostudio10 to put it onto the CD.
When I open the CD it has a little nero back it up zip type icon that extracts it to my C drive. The folder is named C which goes through to ulead video studio folder where I can click the icon that opens up the program but it just never installs to the start menu.
I hope I explained that right. I can try to find out my info if you need me too.
thanks for the help.http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=JaneyDoll

You SHOULD have ordered a back=up cd from whomever you bought the download from.It may have cost another $5 but OBVIOUSLY would have been worth it.
Most companies that do downloads offer a backup CD when you order.. -
You can't use Nero backup for this. You need to burn as a data disc, and you need to burn the file that you downloaded, not what you have installed. Ulead installs the bulk into C/program files/uleadvideostudio10, but it also puts files into Documents and Settings, and into the Windows folders and sub-folders. You don't get any of these if you backup using your method. You also don't get desktop or menu icons and entries.
So where is the file you downloaded ?
Honestly, one of your first posts was asking almost exactly the same question, and most of the responses from then still hold. If you can't get a CD from Ulead, you need to either find the original file, or download a new copy and burn that to CD.Read my blog here.

ok, so just burn the file i downloaded (which is the trial that I just bought the serial number) & that is all?
then if I ever need to install again, just open the CD and install again and put the serial back in, right?

That's all there is to it.
If you create your own templates etc (if that is possible with this program - don't use it, can't say) then may wish to back these up as well from time to time, as well as any other files you may download from Ulead - patches, templates etc.
In fact, I would strongly suggest checking ulead first, downloading anything else you may need, and putting it all onto the same CD. That way, should you need to re-install in the future, you have everything you need. Also, put a copy of the serial number in a text file on the CD.Read my blog here.
