    Hello everyone!

I was just wonder how can I make my backups from a DVD to a 700 mb CD?

Personnaly I would like that every DVD players could read the disc. But if that is not possible, than I would like to pass them just to Divx (my DVD Recorder reads everything).

    Thaks in advance.

EDIT --» BTW, I would like to use some simple program, because i don't really know how to work with complex programs such like AutoGK, etc.

You think AutoGK is complex? You only need 3 or 4 mouse clicks and you're laughing. Check the guides section, there's umpteen DVD to AVI guides.

    Hi,

    thanks for your fast response.

I've tried AutoGK and it is pretty simple to use, and it works perfectly, but tell me, how much time do I need to wait until the movie is ready? The movie has a duration of 45 min.

I have just tried a little bit, but what I've seen is great.

Mostly depends on your CPU speed, you haven't listed yours so I can't answer.

You should be encoding at real-time or better, so 45 minutes of video should take 45 minutes or less.

If you want every DVD player to read it you could look at VCD, although most movies would require at least 2 discs, and the quality would be crap.

Basically, if you want DVD backups to play in DVD players, use DVDs. The price difference between DVD and CD is very small, and disappears altogether if you burn 5 - 6 movies toa DVD after conversion.

Even on a 45 minute episode, keep the quality, burn it on DVD. Most brands of DVDs are $20 to $40 per hundred shipped - CDs maybe half for the equivalent type (not so for inkjet printables). Why waste an hour encoding over 20 cents (all US money)?

If its 45min you could go SVCD, could even fit on a mini DVD,every player then VCD or DVD you could try DVDx.

Also I tried AutoGK and when trying it out my virus detecter detected a virus...What was that all about.

SVCD is not universal. many players will not play SVCD based material. MiniDVD plays on even less players than SVCD.
