My digital camera makes MPEG-1 muxed movies. Since QuickTime isn't too happy handling muxed fil,e I use FFmpegX to change to other formats.

FFmpegX is happy converting the MPEG-1 muxed files to DivX. However, it has problems transforming the files directly to iPod formats (three that are listed in Quick lists). Changing the file to DivX first, then opening it again and changing it to iPod format works (of course). Is it because the files are muxed?

I am using the latest version of FFmpegX.

  2. Is Quicktime able to playback these files?

I had the same problem. I had a tone of movies that were mpeg1 muxed.
    I didi the following:
-Demux into a video and audio using ffmpegx
-Take the 2 files and convert them to mpg4 using ffmpegx again.
-Drop the mpg4 file into the Ipod movies section.
    Worked great for me.
I know have all my movies on my Ipod as well as Quicktime Playable Mpeg files.
