    You need to turn your text based subtitles to the binary .sup format. See https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1519300#1519300

    Then it is this .sup file which must have the same basename as the asset (and be in the same folder).

    No need to add as an asset - if it is there, SVCD2DVD will pick it up & add it as a proper DVD selectable subtitle.
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

    Selectable?

    ChrissyBoy, are you saying the subtitles then become selectable as in a menu selectable option (subtitles on, subtitles off)? I always thought SVCD2DVD just hard coded the subtitles on the resulting DVD. I've always assumed this to be the case so for this reason I've always used VirtualDub to hardcode the subtitles as this allows me to choose the color and font and position of the subtitles. But if SVCD2DVD renders the subtitles as a menu selectable option that would be awsome!
